I am the managing director of Independents by Sodexo and I am passionate about the food we serve.
I started out as a chef and I’ve never lost my passion for food. That’s why I head straight for the kitchen when I visit schools and I ensure we work with our chefs to improve their skills and consequently the level of our offer. I was instrumental in arranging for our chefs to be trained at the world-famous École Lenôtre in Paris which has been a major coup.
My own background is in culinary craft. I worked in various hotels and restaurants earlier in my career and, most notably, honed my gastronomy skills in the then five-star Imperial Hotel in Torquay.
I joined Sodexo in 1988 and have worked in business and industry as well as education.
Away from work, family is a key part of my life. I am married to Sarah with three sons and live in Highclere, near Newbury Berkshire. (Home of Downton Abbey).
