I love my job as chef manager in Doncaster; no two days are the same. We cater for a huge range of customers, from three month old babies in the nursery to mature pupils and staff.
Then there are external events as well, such as weddings and mayoral banquets. My staff and I communicate with our customers by using sign language. I also teach NVQ hospitality qualifications to pupils with special needs, in partnership with the college, in our Sodexo kitchen.
As an ambassador for the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry charity Springboard, I help young and disadvantaged people find sustainable careers. I’m heavily involved in various initiatives: coaching local and international work experience and placement students as well developing my staff internally.
Alongside all of that, I am part of a group of senior Sodexo chefs who develop and launch new menus for the business across the UK. The day just flies past! I wonder why.
