Born and bred in Bracknell, my inspiration for cooking comes from my dad, who is also a chef. When I was younger I loved helping him to bake cakes and prepare the family meals and he encouraged me to attend catering college.
I joined Sodexo in 2010 as chef de partie and was quickly promoted to sous chef, senior sous chef and now I’m head chef at a school in Berkshire where we cater for day and boarding pupils and provide lunch for up to 1,400 pupils and staff every day.
As well as being the head chef, I also take my role as mentor very seriously, encouraging junior members of the catering team to progress and develop themselves. Our senior pastry chef, Kat, is the current Sodexo junior chef of the year, which is fantastic; I am really proud of how far she has come through her hard work and dedication. I’m also coaching one our junior chefs through his NVQ to become a pastry chef.
I know it’s a cliché when people say they enjoy their job, but I really do!
